AMC Eagle 1981 Vibration Problem 5th Gear?

April 21, 2014 - Author: bartbarton

I have an AMC Eagle 1981 with the 258HP AWD.

Question:  Have T-5 manual trans in my Eagle, Runs well in the first 4 gears, but in 5th have a vibration under load. Any ideas?

Answer:   It is possible the 5th gear set in your T5 manual transmission is starting to pit.  When this happens it can cause a vibration like you are describing. 5th gear is the highway gear obviously so before condemning the transmission we would suggest you have the u-joints, drive shaft all checked and balanced and also check tires and balance. This may not be a trans problem at all but associated with the transmission. We believe in elimination of the easy potential problems before tearing into the transmission.

1973 Nova Saginaw Shifting Problem

April 10, 2014 - Author: bartbarton

I have a 1973 Chevrolet Nova 350 engine.

Question:  the shifting from 1st to 2nd grinds a little, the 3rd to 2nd and then to 1st i need to be in a certain RPM range in order to not grind. is it signs of a worn clutch or just the age of the trans?

Answer:  We believe your transmission is a cast iron Saginaw from your description it sounds like the syncros are bad… 1st gear is non synchronized so that is normal for first but not 2nd gear.  It is possible that excessive bearing wear is allowing the shafts to move front to back and contributes to the shifting problem.  We suggest you order our Bearing Rebuild Kit Saginaw (4 speed) with Syncro Rings our part number MWT115AWS your cost is $147.85 plus S&H.

If you need additional technical assistance just give us a call 888-824-2014, you can see the other parts that we can provide for the Saginaw transmission on our site.

Manual Transmission to replace 700R4

April 8, 2014 - Author: bartbarton

I have a 1982 Chevrolet Silverado 2WD V8

Question:  Currently I have a 700r4, looking to put in a manual style transmission. Do you sell a kit or can you make a kit that will include everything I need to switch over my automatic transmission to a manual transmission? I know that I can get some parts and my local junk yard but I would rather by all new or rebuilt parts.

Answer:  We can provide a nv4500kit that will include the NV4500 Transmission, conversion bell housing, flywheel, clutch kit,  shift stub, shift stick, slave, master and line.  This will be a 5 Speed NV4500 custom unit to accommodate a manual speedometer im your  vehicle.

This would require a custom drive shaft after installation.  You will have to furnish clutch pedals, and floor components (boot and ring)

This would be the same transmission used in Chevrolet and GM 2500 and 3500 trucks, this transmission will be a good choice for a daily drive/work vehicle.  Your cost is $2895.00 this transmission has a 12 month no hassle warranty, is outright purchase you keep your core.  Shipping charges will be added.  You can see the other parts we provide for the NV4500 on our site.

NP263HD Transfer Case Noise

April 3, 2014 - Author: CourtneyN
Question: I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD with a NP263HD transfer case, at speeds around 55-70 mph it’s making a noise. It did have a pin hole in the case but it was around one of the rubberized bolts I welded that. And now it has a leak out of the rear seal where the drive shaft goes in what do you think is causing the noise? How much for a complete rebuild kit and what all does the rebuild kit come with?

Answer: There are other issues with the rear case that cause problems like this. The snap ring groove in the rear case that retains the output shaft bearing wears causing output shaft end play resulting in bearing failure and noise. Also the transfer case was more then likely ran low on fluid which could have resulted in rear tail bushing wear. It is important to inspect your slip yoke on the drive shaft for wear also. We can help you with all of your parts, a rebuilt or a brand new transfer case.

Here is a list of parts you need.

GM Silverado 32 Spline Input 2001-Up NP263 HD Part Number MWTTCGM038 $1326.67

Case Half (Rear) (NP 263 Standard) Part Number MWTNV30961 $175.00
