Ford BW1356 Stuck in Low Range

I have a 1989 Ford Bronco with the 5.0LT engine 4WD.

Question:  I just got this Bronco & tested my 4×4 & it stuck in low range.BW1356_transfer_case I had a mechanic take off the electric motor off the transfer case & the actuator shaft that spins to switch from 2wd to 4h & 4l was just spinning in the housing. It didn’t stop on the marked sections. What is wrong with the transfer case? Is that actuator shaft broken or are the gears or chain broken inside? Is this a usual broken part on this model of transfer case

Answer: From your description of the problem it sounds like a range fork/ range hub problem. This is a common problem

For the BW1356 transfer case. Below is a list of parts that we would recommend be replaced during this repair cycle:

Question:  My transfer case split due to a pump rub issue. I would like to know a normal amount of play the chain should have inside?

Answer: The chain in the assembled location should have .400 sag.

Dodge 1989 G360 Covered in Oil

I have a 1989 Dodge D250 with a Cummins diesel 2WD

Question: Recently picked up an old dodge D250 and the tranny works fine but is covered in oil and I’m looking into either just replacing the seals, and rebuilding the whole thing while I have time and funds right now, or purchasing a replacement. Any recommendations? I don’t really plan on hauling anything I just want to attend to any issues now rather than wait for something to break. I live in California how much is shipping to have a rebuilt one sent (I have my own forklift if that changes anything)

Answer:  Your new truck has a Getrag 360 transmission widely used between 1989 and 1993 by Dodge behind the Cummins Diesel engine. You have a couple of options, the first is to overhaul the G360 (assuming the case is not cracked), the second option is to replace the G360 with the later model 5 speed the NV4500 (includes all the latest updates).

If you elect to overhaul the existing G-360 unit you will need:nv4500

2001 Ford F250 with ZF 6 Speed, Input Shaft Wear

Updated Pilot Bearing Kit

Question:   I need to rebuild my zf 6 speed and I have some questions. First is your bearing rebuild kit a complete rebuild kit? I’ve never seen one labeled as a bearing rebuild kit. Second I read that people are putting the 6.0 pilot bearing in mine failed again and I saw you have a repair kit but little information on what all it is which would you suggest? and if it matters I have a luk clutch and fly wheel but that also may change. My other question is my input shaft is terribly worn and also has a lot of play. I’d like to get a new one Chryo treated as well but do you have anything to fix the input shaft bearing and keep it from wearing out so easily?

Dodge 3/4 ton NV5600 with a problem

I have a Dodge 2500 2003 with the 5.9L Cummins, NV5600 Manual transmission and 4WD.

Question: New clutch throw out and front seal 4 years ago. I am getting a whining bearing noise wondering if theirs a common bearing that goes bad and are there any special tools required. Do you have a bearing kit? If I bought the clutch from you could i return it if not needed?

Answer:   Common problems with the NV5600 transmission are the rear main shaft bearing and the pocket bearing between the input and main shaft along with the front counter shaft  bearing.  The NV5600 is not a very easy transmission to rebuild because of its weight and size. It requires a 15 ton Posi Loc puller and a wide bed press to disassemble the main shaft for instance our press we use on these is a 55 ton air over hyd OTC press and it has to work at it.

Ford ZF650 Manual Transmission Needs Rebuilding & Upgrading

I have a 2005 f250 6.0Lt Diesel with 600 horsepower.



Question:  During the ZFS650 overhaul I know its going to need synchro, i think a bearing or the shafts are getting some wear, and possibly thinking about a short throw shifter during the overhaul.  Can you offer any suggestions for the increase horsepower?

Answer:   We can rebuild and dyno test your ZFS650 6 Speed transmission, the transmission will be rebuilt under our part number MTFFRD076 your cost is $2526.67. plus freight and assumes your existing core case is not damaged.

To accommodate the additional horsepower we would recommend that we cryogenic treat the input shaft, 5th c/s gear, 4th gear set  and 3rd gear set for a total of 39lbs at $10 per pound = $390 additional cost this will add about 30% in additional strength.

Shifting Problem Ford F250 1990

I have a Ford diesel F250 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive.

Question:  Comments/Questions:  I have an issue with my tranny going into reverse. I have to roll back or roll forward in order to get it into gear. It grinds with the clutch completely depressed. It also makes a grinding noise in neutral with the clutch out. Would you be able to give me some insight and a possible parts list/ quote on how much parts would cost for this type of repair?
