Question:  I have gmc truck 2wd and has GM SM 465 SM465_MTGM010transmission 4 Manuel speed The factory gear ratios are 1st : 6.55 2nd : 3.85 3ed : 1.70 4th : 1.00 Reverse : 6.:09 I would like to upgrade the ratios without any change in the main transmission body just need to change the rings inside the transmission The ratios that I would like to have are 1st : 3.27 2nd : 1.97 3ed : 1.34 4th : 1.00 Reverse : 6.:09 So the changes will be only in 1st , 2nd and 3ed Please note that the tire height is 33 inch The rpm up to 6200 rpm The rear end ratio 3.73 I need help on that.

Answer: Sorry there aren’t any ratio changes available for the SM465.   You will need to change the rear end ring and pinion your currently have 3.73 we suggest you lower the ratio to 4.56 this will drop RPM on the free way.  You can see the parts we can provide for the SM465 on our site.

Denali 2007 making clunk, clunk sound?

- Author: bartbarton

I have a Denali 2007 6.2L engine with Automatic transmission 4WD

Question:  I have this Denali, BW4485and it is making a loud clunk, clunk, clunk…sound when under harder acceleration. It was suggested that I need to do a master rebuild kit to fix the problem. Would that be your suggestion, or do you suggest just buying a rebuilt transfer case from you to bolt in. The vehicle has 160k on it now. I’m willing to pay a little more for convenience, but I don’t want to spend $1600 if a simple $200 rebuild kit would work.

Answer:   This is a BW4485 transfer case, the problem you describe could be a problem with stretched or worn out chain.   We would suggest you rebuild the unit and purchase the following parts:

  • Bearing Overhaul Kit part number TRSBKBK4485 your cost $123.93
  • Chain part number MTCCL10-502 is the transfer case chain  your cost $140.00 plus freight.

I have a 3/4 ton Chevrolet Silverado 6.6L manual transmission 4WD.

Question:  I was wondering if I shortshifter_2_lgcould use a ford zf shifter stub assembly in my chevy. Just the stub and “square ring” with the two pins going through it. will that fit in my gm stub top half assembly. I know ones 6 bolt and ones 4 bolt. I’d like the shifter stub more toward my leg wear the ford’s is located. I was thinking I could mix and match one of ur short throw kits. Gm 4 bolt flange with the for stub and I’ll make a shifter with a weighted knob. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:  The stubs will not interchange but you could heat and modify your original stub.  If you would like more information give Scott or Dan a call toll free 888-824-2012 he can help you

Clunking Sound NP233 Blazer 1996

August 18, 2014 - Author: bartbarton

I have a Blazer 1996 with 4.3L 4WD.

Question:  I have a question np233_transfer_case_imageI REALLY hope you can help me out with, I have a 96 Chevy s10 blazer 4wd, It has the np233 transfer case. There is slack in the drive shaft so me and my dad checked it thinking u joints but when you grab the drive shaft and shake it the clanking sounds like its coming from the transfer case or transmission? Dad is thinking transfer case any thoughts?

Answer:  We would suggest you start by checking the fluid level and condition of the transfer case and rear differentials fluids, drain and inspect.

Which shaft are you turning to produce this noise, front or rear. Worn spider/side gears in the differential can also produce this problem.

You should be able to tell a lot by the fluid level and condition of the fluids, look for chunks, pieces and sliver nuggets.

If the transfer case is sloppy or the culprit we recommend the following parts:

  • NP233 16mm wide input bearing rebuild kit our part number TRSBK230 your cost $70.00
  • Chain 1.25 inch wide 31 links part number TRSHV022 your cost $96.00.

Need 5 speed Trans & Transfer Case

August 6, 2014 - Author: bartbarton

I have a 1953 Power Wagon.

Question:  I’m looking to nv4500purchase an NV4500 and an NP241 transfer case for a custom project I’m working on. The engine I’m using is a 1994 12 Valve Cummins out of a ’94 Dodge 2500 2wd Automatic. I’ll be putting this into a 1953 Dodge Power Wagon. The 12 valve Cummins has been upgraded to about 400 – 450 hp. Given the short wheel base of the ’53 Power Wagon a married setup would work best. The truck will be used on a daily basis and will also be used for towing. Do you provide the bell housing with the NV4500? What is included with the NV4500? What sort of upgrades are available to be sure the NV4500 can handle the upgrade in power over stock? Do you also sell a flywheel and clutch for this setup? What would be a quote for everything? NV4500, NP241, Bell housing  and Flywheel Clutch.

Answer:   We can provide a new transmission and a rebuilt transfer case for your custom project.

The transmission is OE and will be capable of the required horsepower without an modifications or upgrading. You will need the following parts:

  • Bell Housing your cost $325.00
  • New Clutch kit your cost $500 including Flywheel
