Transmission Problem 88 Toyota Pickup

October 29, 2014 - Author: bartbarton

I have a Toyota pickup 1988 2.4L engine.

Question:  I let my father in law use my truck to drive from Mississippi to Colorado which is a far drive for such an old truck he made it almost completely back until 3rd and 4th gear started grinding when they are engaged. I tried the shift lever bushings which is usually the issue for Toyota trucks but they still grind and knocks itself out of gear the only thing I can think of would be the gears are stripped and a rebuild or replacement is needed.

Answer:   Sounds like it is possible that the input bearing is failing. 4th gear is the input and 3rd is right behind it. it is also possible that the gears have an issue but hard to tell until it is opened up.

If you decide to open it up we will have all of the parts for it in stock..

We assume this is a fuel injected vehicle? If that’s correct we can provide a remanufactured transmission that will be dyno tested prior to shipment. Order our part number MTTOY007 W56E, 5 speed 4WD, your cost is $933.00 plus $250.00 core deposit, plus freight. This transmission has a one year warranty. If you have any additional questions give Scott a call at 888-824-2012 he can help you.

You can see the other parts that we can supply for your Toyota W 56 transmission on our site.

October 23, 2014 - Author: bartbarton

I have a F350 2004 6.0L 4WD

Question:  Why won’t a 2008 to 10 6.4 zf6 work in a 2003 to 2007 6.0? I have asked and looked n all I can find out is they will bolt up… also do 7.3s have the same bolt pattern on trans as 6.0 n 6.4? Just curious

Answer:   The 6.0l and the 6.4L use a different input shaft and output shaft so they are not compatible

The 7.3L is a different bolt pattern.

2000 Ford F450 ZFS-650 Shifting Problem

October 22, 2014 - Author: bartbarton

I have a Ford F450 7.3L 2WD.

Question  Hey a friend was driving ZFS650_MTFRD059truck and says he was in 5th gear, hear a pop and doesn’t have neutral anymore. When the shifter is in the neutral position it’s in low gear. All other gears work but it seems low is stuck engaged. Can this be a simple fix?

Answer:   Unfortunately this will not be an easy fix. It sounds like the 1st gear seized to the mainshaft. First thing is to drain the oil and see what the condition is and the level or lack of (oil). We have all of the parts to repair this unit but it would need to be disassembled to determine exactly what parts are needed.

We can provide a rebuilt dyno tested 6 speed transmission 2WD order our part number MTFRD058 your cost is $2526.67 plus a $1500.00 core deposit plus freight. This unit will have a one year warranty.

2003 Yukon Transfer Case Problem

October 15, 2014 - Author: bartbarton

I have a Yukon XL 5.3L

Question:  Im having problems with low speed turns and wheel binding both forward and reverse. The rear wheels are the ones scuffing. The transfer case is a NR4 according to the sticker in the glove box.I have placed the transfer case in the neutral towing mode and coasted down a incline. when the wheels were turned to either side the vehicle slowed as if the brakes were being applied . when I am in 4LOW it is not as bad as 4HI. I want to fix the truck and realize its either the TC of the rear diff just looking for a direction.

Answer:   Sounds like it is a transfer case problem….

This is a BW4484 transfer case that has a differential assembly in it I assume there is an issue with the pinion gears binding in the transfer case and as long as all 4 wheels are turning and there is not an actuator on the front diff to disconnect it will bind even in (N)

We recommend you drain the fluid and look for metal particles/chunks, to be sure and this should give you a pretty good indication on what’s going on.

We can provide a rebuilt transfer case it our part number TCGM048 your cost is $1460.00 exchange with a $350 core charge plus freight.

Once you get a look at the fluid give Scott a call toll free 888-824-2012 he can help you.

Question:  zf s650 Serial # 8283850 1319050036 Transmission has 210,000 ZFS650_MTFRD059miles on it Transmission was in high gear when there was a bang and then it would not stay in high. I can hold it in high but only with very light throttle, otherwise it just pushes shifter to neutral. My question: would you think high or low dollar fix. what issues is this transmission facing with the miles on it. Will I trash it by continuing to drive it while I make a decision on what to do. Thank You for your time.

Answer:  The Over Drive gear is a common problem/ issue with the ZF 6 speed. Below we have listed the parts we believe you will need to repair, also we have provided a cost or a remanufactured dyno tested transmission. The transmission will have a one year warranty.
