December 2, 2014 - Author: bartbarton
I have a Ford F350 1992 2WD Automatic
Question: I have very very bad vibrations under acceleration. My truck has just under 250000 miles. I’m probably looking to replace transmission and torque converter. I also have shifting problems when truck warms up. It won’t stay in a gear. It keeps shifting up and down all confused like. It’s a 3 speed auto with overdrive but not sure what transmission it is for sure. Just looking for a direction and a ball park figure on cost
Sounds like a torque converter letting loose. This will contaminate the entire trans
We would recommend a rebuilt
A rebuilt 4R100 with a billet cover converter all updated your cost $2795.00 plus core deposit plus shipping.

ZFS650 shifter becomes sloppy in 5th gear
December 1, 2014 - Author: bartbarton
I have Ford F350 1999 speed 7.3L
Question: I hope you can tell me if the problem that I have is critical or can wait. The transmission shifts easily in all gears, but when in overdrive, shifter becomes sloppy. when accelerating or decelerating, shifter will move about an inch or so at the top of the shifter. Transmission is a 6 speed. Truck has about 93,000 miles on it.
We would assume it is a combination of problems… The ZF 6 speeds are know for OD issues with gear wear, syncro wear and fork wear. We suggest you will need the following part:
- 5th gear 54 Teeth part number 1319-303-052 your cost $234.25
- 5th Hub part number TRS434606-5 your cost 84.94
- 5th Slider part number TRS359642 your cost $48.53
- 5th Fork part number TRS434845 your cost $50.23 plus S&H
There is a short throw shifter available your cost $195.00, plus freight. Give Scott a call 888-824-2012 he can help you.

Corvette Shifting Problem
- Author: bartbarton
I have a 2004 Corvette LS1 350
Question: I have a 2004 corvette with 14,000 miles and a T-56 6-speed transmission. I have always driven the car reasonably, no burn out no power shifting, etc. When I shift from 1st to 2nd, It feels like the synchro does not completely match the speeds perfectly and there is a small clunck as I shift into 2nd. It is more pronounced during colder temperatures. I’ve changed the fluid but it still does it. Is this a weak component or did I get a bad synchro in the transmission? Can I have a surgical parts replacement completed? or if the transmission has to come out of the car should I have all of the soft parts replaced?
Answer: First thing Scott would try is pumping up the clutch 4 – 5 times then driving the car and see if the issue persists . This sounds like it could possibly be a hydraulic or clutch issue instead of a trans issue. Give Sott a call toll free after this test he can help you 888-824-2012.
