Stronger NV4500

January 6, 2017 - Author: CourtneyN

Question:
Hello I’m in search of a stronger nv4500 transmission for my truck. It’s a turbocharged LSX engine and was wondering what you guys have to offer? I can rebuild the one I have now but would need all the cryogenic internals and don’t know of it would be better to buy the trans from you guys and send my core in. And I was wondering if I could do a different input shaft spline count? Thank you
Answer:
We can supply a rebuilt NV4500 GM 4×4 with cryo treated parts with a one year factory warranty.

The choices on the input would be stock GM 1.125” 10 spline or 8.1L 1.250 10 spline same price either way

Order our part number MTGM009 your cost $1400 exchange plus $500 core deposit plus freight

Cryo treating is per pound
• Input 5 pounds
• Cluster 24 pounds
• Output shaft 17 pounds
• 5th m/s gear 2 pounds
• 5th c/s gear 7.4 pounds

NV4500 & NV241D Conversion

June 28, 2016 - Author: CourtneyN

Question: Perhaps you can help me with some information or a source for it.  I just installed an NV4500 and NV241d from 1999 Dodge Ram diesel into a 1995 Dodge Ram diesel.  Standard cab, eight foot bed.  The trans came with the front drive shaft.

The rear slip yoke is a smaller diameter (it came off the standard auto and transfer case that was removed) and the original 1995 drive shaft is too short. In your knowledge did this combination exist from the factory? Is there a source for the yoke and proper shaft? I have seen two piece shafts and center bearing shafts that I assume are for the long bed.  My real question is do you know what I need?  Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Answer:

The  diesel trucks came with both NP241DLD and NP241DHD transfer cases. That being said the 1999 NP241 DHD will not work in the 1995 due to there being no speedometer provision in the transfer case.

1994-1996 NP241DLD use a 32 spline output  with a speedometer in the rear oil pump housing and 1997 and up NP241DLD do not

1994-1996 NP241DHD use a 32 spline output with a speedometer 1997 uses a 31 spline large diameter with a speedo and 1998 and newer us the 31 spline without a speedo provision

The best option is use the old NP241DLD and switch the input shaft over to a 29 spline input to bolt up to the NV4500.  We can provide the following parts to assist with the conversion.

27 Shaft Input 29 Spline 6010n Bearing Narrow MWTNP4797029-R $122.92

23 Input Bearing (.630 inch Wide) MWT6010-N $20.66

Shipping charges will be added.   You will need to find a driveline shop to modify the drive shafts   We have such a shop in Maple Grove, MN that can help you their number is 800-444-0755.

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 5.9L 3/4 ton

Question:  I’m doing an auto-to-manual transmission swap. I’m putting a nv5600 6-speed trans in and the output shaft is different than the auto. I’d like to change the input shaft of the transfer case to accept the 32(I think)spline output shaft of the NV5600. I’m dealing with a 241DH part 32150 transfer case. Is there an input shaft made to do this, or do I have to go junkyard shopping?

Answer:  It is actually a 29 spline input you need…. NP4856629 cost $132.00 plus freight give Scott a call toll free 888-824-2012 he can help you.

What master cylinder to use 1996 Explorer

September 10, 2014 - Author: bartbarton

I have a Ford 1/2 ton 1996 Explorer 5.0L 4WD

Question:  I was wondering if you could give me some advice about this zf I have swapped in to my explorer. I’ve been fiddling around with clutch master cylinders trying to make something work. My issue is the stock ranger manual petal assembly I used fits but the stock master that fits in at a 45″ angle through the firewall and mounts to a stub off the petal assembly is too small to depress the clutch fully. I opted for a zoom Kevlar 11″ clutch so I’m not sure if I rigged up a pivot type system with a remote mounted stock master from a f series truck would it still feel mushy? I was looking at the wildwood clutch master cylinders they offer and I was thinking about getting the 1″ I believe ford stock is. 3/4″ or 7/8″.

Answer:  We would defiantly go with a aftermarket Wilwood.. they are more adjustable

Need 5 speed Trans & Transfer Case

August 6, 2014 - Author: bartbarton

I have a 1953 Power Wagon.

Question:  I’m looking to nv4500purchase an NV4500 and an NP241 transfer case for a custom project I’m working on. The engine I’m using is a 1994 12 Valve Cummins out of a ’94 Dodge 2500 2wd Automatic. I’ll be putting this into a 1953 Dodge Power Wagon. The 12 valve Cummins has been upgraded to about 400 – 450 hp. Given the short wheel base of the ’53 Power Wagon a married setup would work best. The truck will be used on a daily basis and will also be used for towing. Do you provide the bell housing with the NV4500? What is included with the NV4500? What sort of upgrades are available to be sure the NV4500 can handle the upgrade in power over stock? Do you also sell a flywheel and clutch for this setup? What would be a quote for everything? NV4500, NP241, Bell housing  and Flywheel Clutch.

Answer:   We can provide a new transmission and a rebuilt transfer case for your custom project.

The transmission is OE and will be capable of the required horsepower without an modifications or upgrading. You will need the following parts:
